The Alliance for Diplomacy and Justice: Trump Administration's Unlawful Attacks on Iran Threaten Innocent Lives and Blatantly Neglect Human Rights Laws

WASHINGTON (March 3, 2026) — The Alliance for Diplomacy and Justice condemns the Trump Administration's unlawful, militaristic attacks on Iran, warning of the escalation of human rights abuses with military intervention. The Alliance issued the following statements in response.

"The Trump Administration's attack on Iran is unconstitutional and a flagrant violation of international law," said Desirée Cormier Smith, Co-President of The Alliance for Diplomacy and Justice and former U.S. Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. "The Trump Administration has overstepped its power, unilaterally putting the United States, its allies and the innocent lives of people in the Middle East at risk for yet another unnecessary and unprovoked war of aggression. While the Iranian regime acted as an oppressive violator of human rights, recent history has shown that foreign military regime change and intervention simply does not end well. You cannot liberate people by bombing their children.”

“The Trump Administration has used the Iranian regime’s repression of human rights as a justification for invasion, but you don’t bomb children if you want to protect their rights,” said Jessica Stern, Co-President of The Alliance for Diplomacy and Justice and former U.S. Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons. “In times of crises, vulnerable communities are the first to be at risk and last to be considered. As Americans, it is our obligation to put a stop to the murder of Iranian schoolgirls and the bombing of Tehran to justify our maniacal president’s pursuit of global domination.”
