Regarding the April 22 editorial “‘Trade over aid’ is good advice for everyone”:

“The editorial wrongly dismissed aid as a simple wealth transfer. But trade alone cannot and will not catapult poor countries into rich ones. The U.S. owes its support, through targeted foreign assistance, toward sustainable and equitable economic growth for countries and communities that have been exploited by its foreign and trade policies."
